The Real Treasure Hunt, with a long-lost library,
a secret code. and a treasure chest.
Hidden deep within a library is a secret code that will unlock an ancient
treasure chest.
Until now the identity of the Codex Master has remained a mystery, to
foil prospective treasure hunters! Cracking the clues will get your team
started but be warned everything is not as it may first appear.
This event can be either competitive with an overall winning team, or
non-competitive where the treasure is only revealed when all teams have
cracked a part of the code.
The Treasure Chest
Through the years many attempts have been made to crack CODEX and all
have failed, but we have now pieced together more information than ever
before in the hope that your team will crack the CODEX and open the chest.
The chest is bolted with a 4 digit combination; find that combination
and the contents are yours.
All the information hidden in the Library and the Grounds of the venue
links to the CODEX.
THE CODEX is interwoven with Egyptology, The Compass Rose, and certain
books. Successful completion of the Codex will require co-ordination of
each of these aspects.
Transparencies
A series of transparencies of symbols and maps link to the final combination
of which only 4 can be relevant, once the relevant four have been discovered
they need to be placed on the CODEX sheet in the correct position. When
studied it is said that something will be revealed. The combination is
written in hieroglyphics.
Numbers
The CODEX contains basic substitution code from Roman times.
and an Egyptian decimal system using symbols.
1 is shown by a single stroke.
10 is shown by a drawing of a hobble for cattle.
100 is represented by a coil of rope.
1,000 is a drawing of a lotus plant.
10,000 is represented by a finger.
100,000 by a tadpole or frog
1,000,000 is the figure of a god with arms raised above his head.
The conventions for reading and writing numbers is quite simple; the
higher number is always written in front of the lower number and where
there is more than one row of numbers the reader should start at the top.
In the team packs are

Only 4 numbers are needed to access the chest and the team that completes
